Please note that since this brochure was prepared, it has been reported that Muskrat Falls can only provide about 70% of the earlier reported amount of power. That would mean that Muskrat Falls would cost ISLAND ratepayers MANY BILLIONS of dollars to end up with much less power than we already have, and even less than that indicated below. How then does it make sense to sanction Muskrat Falls ?

Whether Muskrat Falls is sanctioned or not, Nalcor plans to install an additional 50 megawatts of thermal capacity by 2014. So any potential breach of the island's net capacity will be pushed back to year 2020, or later, or later, or later, or later.
